Mounting Corners for Photographs

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

Step 1: Attach Window Mat to Backing Board

Tools and Supplies: linen tape and burnishing bone, cutting tool
Cut two or three small pieces of tape (more if picture is larger). Attach the top edge of the window mat to the backing board with linen tape. Put water on the back of the tape to activate the adhesive. Burnish the tape down with the burnishing bone. Make sure edges are flush when closed, then open again.

Step2 : Center and Weigh Down Artwork

Tools and Supplies: Weight
Center art on backing board and weight down to hold in place.

Step 3 : Place Mounting Corners on Art & Attach to Backing Board

After the artwork is weighted down, gently pick up the corners and place mounting corner on edge of artwork. Press down firmly to attach mounting corners on all four sides to backing board.
Editor's note:
There are a number of different types of mounting corners that can be used to attach artwork to backing board under window mat.

Regular Mounting Corners
The regular versions are used to attach artwork to backing board under window mats when the artwork has a large border and mounting corner will be covered by the window mat. The smaller versions are for pictures up to 16 x 20 . The larger version is used for larger and/or heavier paper.
  Maxi-view Mounting Corners
The Maxi View version is the same as the regular version but it allows more image to show. The smaller versions are for pictures up to 16 x 20 . The larger version is used for larger and/or heavier paper.
